KMEA Festival Assessment

• Tuesday March 20, 2007

The Kentucky Music Educators Association sponsors district and state assessment festivals for Choirs across the state. The Lafayette choirs participate in district 7 (Lexington District) assessment each year. It is very important to our growth as ensembles to prepare for and participate in formal assessments. The choirs perform 2-3 pieces for a panel of 3 judges. One piece must be from a required repertoire list meeting certain difficulty level requirements. Following the performance portion of the assessment, all choirs participate in sight-reading assessment to determine the group's ability level in sight-reading.

Lafayette choirs consistently score Distinguished ratings and receive positive comments from adjudicators.
