General
Travel Rules -
Specific
guidelines will
be announced for
each trip
Travel
with the Lafayette
Choirs is a privilege
for students.
All Fayette County
and Lafayette
Student
Code of Conduct(.pdf)
rules apply at
all times during
a trip (whether
a day-time field
trip or extended
out of town tour).
The
Lafayette Choir
is an excellent
group to travel
with. Our students
as a whole have
great character
and respect for
themselves and
others which makes
for great travel
companions!
If
a discipline infraction
occurs while on
a tour, it is
grounds for being
separated from
the group, sent
home early (at
parental expense),
school administrative
action, and/or
being prevented
from participating
in future choir
travels and events.
As
an approved school
trip, all school
and organization
rules and policies
set forth in the
student handbook
are in effect
for the duration
of the tour.
GROUP
TRAVEL HINTS
1. You are representing
your school &
community. Good
manners are always
a plus wherever
you are!
2. Students MUST
travel within
their ‘family
groups’
with their chaperones.
Family Groups
will team-up for
museum/monument
tours, and students
may choose which
museums (Smithsonian/Holocaust)
that they wish
to visit. DO NOT
wander off by
yourself or in
smaller groups.
Tour/Travel schedules
are often ‘tight’
- we need to stay
together.
3. If you feel
ill, tell your
chaperone immediately.
4. Review your
itinerary and
be aware of your
responsibilities.
5. It takes time
to move a large
group. Be patient.
Arrive on time.
6. Eat properly
& sleep at
night. Every student
MUST eat breakfast!
Announcements
for the day will
be given then—you
MUST be present.
7. Students MAY
take their cell
phones with them,
however they MUST
turn them off
while inside venues
& on tours
and rehearsals.
If using a cell
phone at an inappropriate
time or place,
it will be confiscated
for the remainder
of the trip and
held by the director.
Parents will have
emergency contact
numbers while
we are on the
tour. Chaperones
will see that
emergency messages
reach your student
immediately. Notify
your friends ahead
of time that you
will be out of
town to prevent
unnecessary calls.
Utilize ‘silent
feature’
and voice mail;
return calls in
free time.
